Due to expansion, our client are looking for a new Finance Assistant / Part Qualified Accountant who has a stable, proven career history to demonstrate an ability to want to grow with their next employer.

Our client are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant or AAT part qualified Accountant who possesses strong Excel skills, a fastidious eye for detail and the flexibility to work across a variety of finance functions.

The business is a dynamic specialist Aviation company with a small Finance team, everyone making a big difference and contributing to purchase and sales ledger activity. Along with this, the role will also cover:

Payroll, bookkeeping, financial reporting and office management functions.

Our client operates to a busy monthly schedule, where the timely achievement of financial deadlines helps the business maintain its excellent reputation as a word-class provider.

The new, permanent and full-time Finance Assistant will join their busy team, working Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Reporting to the company’s Financial Controller, you will perform a wide variety of tasks across a number of profit centres, using Excel and Sage 50 as your main tools.

What you’ll be doing:

  •  Raising customer invoices

  • Updating sales ledgers, including credit control and processing of bank receipts

  • Processing and checking invoices from external contractors and suppliers

  • Payroll compilation (to gross-pay level)

  • Bookkeeping and contributing towards monthly management accounts

  • Upkeep of various ledgers and spreadsheets, encompassing a range of business processes

  • Assisting with office management, including facilities, equipment, stationery supplies etc

Our client’s Finance Team supports their various profit centres very closely, so you can expect to be exposed to (and feel the pulse of) their operational business way more than you might in a larger corporate environment. Everyone’s contribution is both visible and recognised.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who places a very high importance on accuracy – and who takes extreme pride in their work. Beyond that, we are seeking a committed colleague for our client with proven ability of the below:

What attributes you’ll need:

  • Communicate effectively at all levels

  • Confidently deal with customers, contractors and suppliers, by phone and by email

  • Take responsibility for their work and use their initiative

  • Complete tasks in a timely manner, with an understanding of the impact of missed deadlines on the wider business

  • Use Excel to a strong intermediate level

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience of Sage 50 would be advantageous, as would the ability to demonstrate progress towards a professional accounting qualification (eg AAT).
